Example Datasets
As described in the User Guide, AltaViewer can read in a variety of 3D imaging data file formats (e.g. NRRD, VFF, UVF, and NMDX), and can convert other formats (e.g. DICOM) into formats that AltaViewer natively supports. Users with datasets in these formats are encouraged to load their data into AltaViewer for exploration. For users who do not already have example datasets on-hand, we have provided three small example datasets, linked below. Each example is a .zip archive containing two input files: a NRRD file, and a NMDX file. The NRRD file contains the raw microCT imaging data (for the soft-tissue datasets, the data was imaged using Numira's proprietry Virtual HistologyTM method). The NMDX file contains "meta-information" (or settings) to facilitate viewing the data (e.g. window/level, camera view, crop information, etc.). After downloading and unzipping an example, double-click on the NMDX file to reproduce the thumbnail view shown below. (Note: Although AltaViewer can interactively visualize very large datasets, to reduce download times we have significantly down-sampled these examples from their original full-resolution versions.)
