The Company seeks an experienced professional to assume the role of Purchasing Assistant.   This is a full-time position and is based at our offices in Bothell, WA.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills; have the ability to work independently as well as within a team; and be able to exercise good judgment in decision-making.  Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to understand, write and follow SOPs and scientific documents are vital to this position.

Key duties include:

  • Become familiar with the various workflows of all departments in order to be fully knowledgeable about the consumption of direct materials and general supplies.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with supply vendors and work to improve pricing, quality, and delivery terms.
  • Accept and edit Purchase Requisitions and obtain quotes from vendors.
  • Create PO’s and obtain necessary approvals.
  • Place orders and keep track of delivery dates and open orders.
  • Receive, inspect, and stock ordered items and match the packing slip with the PO and forward documentation to AP for payment.
  • Fill out damage claims and return shipments as needed.
  • Distribute direct project materials to appropriate department or project manager.
  • Stock general supplies and keep track of the usage and replenish inventory as needed.
  • Maintain security over the physical inventories and keep a log of inventory inflow and outflow.
  • Maintain records of materials, prices, deliveries, and inventories for internal audit and external audit.
  • Ad hoc projects assigned by supervisor.

Required candidate qualifications:

  • Education: 4-year bachelor degree is preferred, associate degree is acceptable.
  • Experience: 2 – 3 years of purchasing experience is a must. Record keeping or bookkeeping is a plus.
  • Computer skills: basic to medium level of skills in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point, etc.) are required.
  • Ability to maintain relationships with vendors.
  • Strong administrative and clerical skills.
  • Ability to analyze and organize data and prepare reports.
  • Ability and willingness to function effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
